๐Ÿ“ How PingPong Works

A complete step-by-step guide for new users โ€” from connecting your exchange to running your first automated grid trade.

Connect Your Exchange
First thing to do โ€” link PingPong to your Bitvavo or Coinbase account

Get your API keys from Bitvavo

Go to account.bitvavo.com/user/api and create a new API key. Enable View and Trade permissions only. Copy the API Key and Secret.

Click the Bitvavo button at the top of the DApp

A connection form appears. Fill in:

  • Server URL โ€” already filled in automatically
  • Server Token โ€” the password from your .env file (ask your admin)
  • API Key โ€” paste from Bitvavo
  • API Secret โ€” paste from Bitvavo

Click Save & Connect

PingPong tests the connection automatically. On success the form closes and you see your EUR balance. Your coin pairs load in the top row.

โœ“ Your API keys are stored securely on the server โ€” never in your browser. PingPong can only place and cancel orders โ€” it cannot withdraw your funds.

Look at the coin buttons at the top

After connecting you see all available trading pairs from Bitvavo โ€” BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and many more. Each shows the coin's brand color.

Click a coin to select it

The live price bar updates immediately showing the current price, and the grid controls below update for that coin.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip for beginners: Start with BTC-EUR or ETH-EUR โ€” they have the most stable price movement and are easiest to grid trade.

Set Up Your Grid
Define where and how you want to trade

Set Lower Price

The lowest price at which you want to buy. If BTC is at โ‚ฌ85.000 you might set lower to โ‚ฌ80.000.

Set Upper Price

The highest price at which you want to sell. Example: โ‚ฌ90.000. The grid trades between lower and upper automatically.

Set Number of Grid Lines

How many buy/sell orders to place between lower and upper. More lines = smaller profits per trade but more trades. Start with 5โ€“10 lines.

Set Investment Amount (โ‚ฌ)

Total EUR to invest in the grid. This is divided equally across all grid lines. Minimum โ‚ฌ5 per line โ€” so 10 lines = minimum โ‚ฌ50 total.

Example grid setup: BTC at โ‚ฌ85.000 ยท Lower: โ‚ฌ82.000 ยท Upper: โ‚ฌ88.000 ยท Lines: 6 ยท Investment: โ‚ฌ300

Click ๐Ÿ“ PING to place buy orders below current price, or PONG to place sell orders above. You manage everything yourself โ€” when an order fills you decide what to do next.

Best for: Experienced traders who want full control

Click โ–ถ Start Cycling and PingPong runs forever on its own. Every time a buy order fills โ†’ automatically places a sell above it. Every time a sell fills โ†’ automatically places a buy below. Profits are locked in with every bounce. Checks every 30 seconds.

Best for: Set and forget โ€” maximum automation, no daily management needed

Click โ–ถ Start Monitor to activate protection. Watches the price every 60 seconds. If price moves too far outside your grid โ†’ cancels all orders and automatically resets the grid around the new price. If price drops below your stop-loss โ†’ cancels everything to protect your capital.

Open the ๐Ÿค– AI Agent page. Claude AI analyses the current market โ€” price trend, volume, volatility โ€” and recommends the best grid settings for right now. You review the recommendation and approve or decline. After approval the orders are placed automatically.

Best for: Beginners who want AI help choosing the right grid settings

Using the AI Agent โ€” Step by Step
How to get Claude AI to set up your grid

Open the AI Agent page

Click the ๐Ÿค– AI Agent button in the header or go to /agent

Enter your connection details

Fill in the same Server URL and Server Token as the main DApp. Also enter your Anthropic API Key โ€” get one free at console.anthropic.com

Select your coin and click Analyse

Claude AI fetches the live price data and analyses: current trend, 24h price movement, volume, and volatility. Takes about 10โ€“15 seconds.

Review the recommendation

Claude shows you the recommended grid: lower price, upper price, number of lines, investment amount, and the reasoning behind the settings.

Click โœ“ Approve & Place Orders

The grid orders are placed automatically on Bitvavo. You can then go back to the main DApp and start Cycling to run automatically.

โš  Important: Grid trading involves risk. The price can move outside your grid range causing losses. Never invest more than you can afford to lose. The AI recommendation is a suggestion โ€” always review before approving.
